Josephinite, aka Josephine's Crown From southern Oregon, this mineral was first discovered in and around the Josephine River in 1892 and is now one of Oregon's state minerals. I have occasionally read in descriptions that this gemstone contains trace amounts of silver and gold. In the states mineralogy reports, they did test 75 different samples collected in various areas in different years and did not find it to contain either of those metals, but that's not to say they couldn't be present. This material is found near a few spots where both gold and silver have been found.
