This turquoise comes from the Qingu mining district of China's Hubei Province — currently one of the most active turquoise-producing regions in the world, supplying much of the global market. Rich teal-to-green color pools within a bold, iron-rich matrix, its deep reddish-brown veining ringing each patch of color like a halo rather than the tighter spiderweb webbing typical of other turquoise. The result is a striking, painterly contrast between cool color and warm matrix that reads a little differently in every piece.
